We highly recommend requesting all Inspection Records (including permitted drawings) through the Freedom Of Information Act.

Inspection Records – requested by Freedom Of Information

A review of the Inspection records brings up a number of concerns:

1) Lack of Framing Inspection with measurements and photos

2) No due diligence was done for the Structural Approval contractor

3) When inspections lagged behind the requested schedule Inspectors would assign items to themselves in order to sign them off

**** We will endeavour to compile more detailed criticisms with citations (time permitting)

CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO SEE THE FULL INSPECTION RECORD:  This is posted “as supplied” to us by the City of Toronto.  The lack of detail, poor formatting, missing details and duplication is from them directly.  If this is the way inspection records are stored it is no wonder that mistakes are often made, particularly given that the Toronto Building’s Staff are routinely replaced or shuffled to other jurisdictions.  SEE THE CONTACTS Section for examples of the revolving door of Inspectors.
